Come learn with folkways

Welcome to the Daufe House Garden and Fireside Classroom. Here you are welcome no matter who you are, or what level of understanding or experience you have with the topics offered. At Daufe House we take on the posture of life long students, each of us open to what personal experience, ancestors, and the natural world can teach us.  Classes at the Daufe House are rooted in community connection creating an atmosphere of gentle exploration. It is crafted to bring folks back to the experience of being around their grandmother’s table where generational cultural knowledge is passed down.  The Daufe House Garden and Fireside Classroom is a private home. You will sit in the garden or gather around the cozy family room fireplace. A learning circle ceremony is practiced to open and close each session. Classes are designed to hold personal connection through check in’s and cooking and sharing a healthy meal together in the same practice of the generation before us.. Participants receive historical lessons and cultural relevance through teachings and sharings, arts and rituals.  Classes at Daufe house touch on all elements to foster true knowledge and learning. Sister Donyelle weaves history, culture, magic, plant medicine, folk knowledge, crafting, food, stories, and wisdom to bring a full scope rooted educational experience. Participants are received with gentle kindness encouraging their hearts to be open to curiosity and expansion.

Protection From Unwanted Spirits

When Spirits Come Knocking; Folk wisdom for protection, boundaries, and learning how to live well with the unseen.

Sunday June 28th       12p-3:30pm cst  (Online)         Sliding Scale $25-$50

Many spiritual and cultural traditions teach that we live alongside an unseen world. Ancestors, land spirits, ghosts, wandering dead, and other beings have long been part of the stories and experiences of people across cultures. Yet many of us are taught either to fear these experiences or to ignore them completely.

In this online class, folk practitioner Donyelle Headington will share teachings, stories, and practical tools for creating healthy spiritual boundaries. Drawing from years of work with ancestors, folk traditions, community healing, and spirit work, Donyelle will discuss the different types of entities she has encountered and been taught about, including ancestors, ghosts, elementals, and "the Others."

Topics will include:

• Ancestors, ghosts, elementals, and other spirit beings
• How different traditions understand these entities
• Signs that a spirit may be seeking attention
• The difference between fear, intuition, and discernment
• Household protections and boundary practices
• Protecting your dream life and sleep
• Protecting children and vulnerable family members
• Maintaining healthy boundaries in spiritual practice
• When to engage, when to redirect, and when to seek help

Donyelle will also share examples of traditional protection tools and crafts from her own practice and discuss a future hands-on workshop where participants will create their own protective items.
The focus is not on fear or fighting spirits, but on developing healthy relationships, strong boundaries, and practical skills for living well with the unseen world.
